Just about everyday, there is some adorable story about a squirrel or some other wild animal becoming friends with a house cat. I feel like this is an unreasonable standard for cats to attain to. Mostly because I know if a poor squirrel ever managed to get into our house, he would not find any friends therein. What Watson lacks in instinct, he makes up for in his ability to jump surprisingly high and make an unholy racket when he is displeased. That alone, would draw Jethro on the scene. And Im pretty sure any discourse between the parties would dissolve very rapidly from there. So in short, we will never be a 1 cat, 1 dog, 1 squirrel, kind of family. And the internet is rubbing it in my face.
