Just after the equinox, it was a chilly dawn on Tuesday. Most temperatures at dawn were in the mid 30s to mid 40s. However, the coldest temperature in West Virginia was 32 degrees from the NWS network. This first freezing temperature of the season was observed at Bayard of Grant County, Canaan Heights of Tucker County, Bartow and Frost of Pocahontas County. The lowest temperature in southeast Ohio was 36 degrees from Waterloo of Lawrence County. In northeast Kentucky, the coldest was 38 degrees from Olive Hill of Carter County. A few home furnaces even fired up, and came back to life. However, the National Weather Service is predicting a warming trend through the remainder of this week.
