Just an update on the petition. The deadline for handing in the petition to council is the 3rd of November, and this will be submitted along with the written signatures as well. As some of you may know, from what Ive seen from other posts that individual written objections can also be submitted to the council, and need to be handed in by the 30th of October. (which doesnt leave much time). Thanks so much to everyone that signed and shared the petition. The amount of signatures has been amazing and is having an effect. Spoke with the Telegraph on Sat, and was informed that the developers had a meeting with the council about concerns in regards to this. The developers are already, from what I can gather, starting to appear worried. They have made some vain attempt to win favour by claiming they have listened to the people (their words!) and are claiming they have adjusted the plans to allow for independents. Which translates to only one unit for A1 use (retail) and the other two open to either A2 or A3.(which completely ignores what is being said) Can only guess what the rents on that would be. They also keep playing the anti-social behaviour in the area card quite heavily as well, as well as the supposed hazardous state of the buildings. I was asked if this changes anything(!!) Of course it doesnt. The only thing that will change anything will be the withdrawal of these plans. Please keep sharing and signing, and will post any more info when I have it. https://you.38degrees.org.uk/petitions/stop-the-demolition-of-devonshire-street-sheffield-1?source=facebook-share-button&time=1413751130
