Just another amazing day at the New Britain Industrial Museum: - TopicsExpress

Just another amazing day at the New Britain Industrial Museum: Started off with 2 amazing donations: a collection of items from a downsizing family with a rich New Britain History; and a very early Landers, Frary & Clark bathroom scale and ended with finding an article for a visitor about his great-grandfather who was a trolly conductor in New Britain in the 20s. In between we had 28 visitors including 2 politicians (one retired, one still serving) an extended family, a young man who is the 3rd generation of his family to run a business in New Britain and the CEO of a couple of companies who are still manufacturing in New Britain and produce (among other things) blank keys for Corbin/Russwin and other lock manufacturers. His keys are still made of real nickle silver and more surprising-one of his companies produces cold rolled steel so Stanley can make springs (in New Britian) for their taperules. For some of the visitors the NBIM was one of the places they were visiting in New Britain (one family was on their way to broad street, one family was on their way to the Art Museum) and for some of them this was their only destination. A great day of learning and discovery for all.
