Just another reason why I LOVE my Apple products!! Many of you may have seen the posts about my sons stolen iPhone. It was returned to us today after being confiscated by a police officer! With the help of the Sand Springs Police, which went to the Apple Store in Tulsa and assisted in a sting operation, we were able to recover the phone from the person that purchased it on Craigslist from the original thief. The buyer damaged the phone so badly after discovering it had an Apple Care warranty on it, in an effort to get it replaced with a new (non-stolen) iPhone. He made an apt at the Apple store, which notified me on Saturday 2:30AM I had an apt today!! Guess, what? The serial number matched exactly and I watched as the man tried to back peddle his way out of getting in trouble by claiming the phone was LOST and not STOLEN! The officer promptly explained that he was in possession of stolen property and he quickly signed a release for me to get the phone back. He also became very forthcoming with the information to find the original thief that now has his money. I want to give a BIG thanks to Monique at the Apple Store for helping get the team of Apple leaders ready! Since the phone was so badly damaged and had the warranty, Apple took good care of us and gave us a replacement!! Owner Lessons: 1. Always register your Apple products. 2. Always turn on Find my iPhone! 3. Lock the device as soon as you suspect it is lost or stolen. Thief Lessons: 1. Dont be an idiot and take something that does not belong to you, it will come and bite you! 2. If you buy something that you realize is not yours, RETURN IT! 3.
