Just as a monthly reminder, this is my ONLY social media account. The intent of this page is to inform readers about activities here in Afghanistan. Unfortunately, there are individuals who copy the photos and comments from this page and create fake pages using my name to find romance and/or try to scam people out of money. Over the past four months--thanks to your help, we’ve identified more than 500 fake sites. So, here are a few tips: 1) NEW: This page has official certification by Facebook. Please note the blue circle with the white checkmark next to my name. If a facebook site doesn’t have the white checkmark in the blue circle next to my name, then it is a fake site. 2) I will not send you friend request via facebook, skype, linkedIn, or any other social media site. 3) I am happily married and my wife Ann is very much alive. I DO NOT use any dating sites, skype, google plus, yahoo messenger or any other account. 4) I am not a dating service, I do not have chests of goods or money which will be shipped if you pay a certain amount of money, I do not have another money handler working things for me. 5) I am in Afghanistan, not Africa or Syria. 6) I will NEVER ask you to send money. 7) I do not speak or read any other language than English. If you receive a “request” from me in another language it is from a fake page. 8) NEW: If you send me a facebook message in a language other than English, I do not have the time to translate your message and send a response in your language. Sorry. If you would like me to respond, please send the note in English. This is further proof if you get a note from someone pretending to be “me” using another language it is fake. 9) My page is designed where you can “like” it. You cannot send me a friend request as a result. 10) If you have an address or information regarding a fake account, please message the information about the fake account to me using this page. Last month with your help, we were able to take down more than 200 fake accounts! Thank you! 11) If you were cheated out of money, I have information on how to contact authorities. Message me and I will provide it to you. Also, for Afghans seeking assistance with visas, you must work that through the State Department. Also, regarding visas, I cannot be involved as a third party in the SIV process, this includes letters to clarify something in your records.
