Just back from another great gig at the Harbour Arts - TopicsExpress

Just back from another great gig at the Harbour Arts Centre. Tonight, it was all about Graeme Clarke. Most people know Graeme as bass player and songwriter with Wet Wet Wet. But tonight we saw another side to the man. Tonight he was backed with his fellow Wets man Greame Duffin on guitar and Iain Duff on keys & accordion. He played some stripped back Wets songs, but for me Graeme has some great songs of his own that can grace any top table of music. Tunes like Lost At Sea, When The Rain Falls & Kiss Of Life show he can craft a song or three! At times he seemed ill at ease with being so close to his audience. Lets face it, later on this summer he will be playing to thousands on the Wets summer tour. There was a warmth about the Hac tonight. Great songs always win on the night Honourable mention tonight to Blackheart, who were supporting Graeme on this tour. My good friend William Mitchell has been talking about them to me for a couple of years. Well, he was not wrong. Blackheart are now one of my favourite bands after tonight! Great to chat to Chrissie & Rick from Blackheart (interview & tracks on Irvine Beat FM soon) but also great to shoot the breeze with the two Graemes and Ian. Tonight was made extra special coz my bud Mic Docherty had come down from the metropolis of Glasgow to see the gig and have a beer or two! Always a pleasure to catch up with Marie Blackwood, Alison Riggans & artist Chick McGeehan. A great night!
