Just back from the Grand Junction City Council Meeting. First - TopicsExpress

Just back from the Grand Junction City Council Meeting. First of all, thank you to Marty Chazen and Duncan McArthur for being the two voices of fiscal responsibility on the Council. In case you are unaware, our City Council committed $7.6 Million to renovate our Old Downtown Theater. They have dreams of a first class performing center out of what is essentially Movie Theater. The original build out was going to be completed on time and on budget, but our City folks could not be satisfied, tonight, lead by our fiscally conservative Mayor, they okayed another $2 million in spending, to cover the original core project, which was rejected as too expensive. Apparently the original renovation did not include the price for a new roof or HVAC system, (Why would a renovation project include this?). Once again the liberal crowd showed up with their hands out and the city paid. I am extremely disappointed in my fellow conservatives. Apparently only my wife and myself thought this was important enough to show up and contest. For the record friends, please no more complaints about fiscal responsibility, when you do not demand it in your own community, you dont get to whine about it anymore.
