Just been asked to do the reflection column next week, for the Annandale papers, in my role as Armed Forces Champion, prior to Remembrance Day, thought I would write this: A moment of silence, the expression for a period of silent contemplation, prayer or reflection. A moment of silence, a gesture of respect, particularly in mourning for those who have died as part of a tragic historical event. At this time, 100 years after the start of the First World War, commemoration events will be taking place, around the country and will be for the next four and a half years. On Remembrance Sunday, in one minute, a silence, to remember all of those that gave their lives for our country, a moment that we are all thankful, to our military personnel, throughout the past 100 years, that we live in this relative peace and harmony, because of that sacrifice.
