Just before Punch exhibited its poor jugdment by publishing Fayoses despicable article, one story that briefly trended on social media was that of the young man who came up with claims of being GEJs son. It was a story I found rather confounding. Some usual suspects had already picked up the story for the sole purpose of subjecting Mr. President to ridicule. As for me, I felt that there were a number of questions that my inquisitive mind felt were left unanswered. The actual facts of the case would determine whether or not this was a serious issue and a another question on the mans suitability for his office. The timing, less than 4 weeks to the elections was interesting. The young man allegedly is 24 years old and was the product of a relationship between the President and a hotel receptionist. According to the storyline, the existence of this boy was kept in the backburner so as not to jeopardize the then rising political career of GEJ. The story gets fussy at a point and therefore doesnt answe some poignant questions. First of all is the boy in actual fact GEJs son? The resemblance is indeed striking, but in these days of show your certificate, is there a DNA or other compelling evidence of GEJs relationship to the boy? If there is indeed a relationship was GEJ aware of the boys existence? The story doesnt quite address that. The story has it that the boys story only came out based on a posting on twitter after he lost his mother. ....it however doesnt explain why the young man had to resort to twitter or social media to get his fathers attention ... was it that he had no other means of reaching his father either because his father prevented his access to him or even knew nothing about his existence?? Another question that is begging answers is whether if GEJ was aware of his existence had he or had he not supported his mother in raising him?? The boy is allegedly 24 now, and even if he were the presidents son, the president is under no legal obligation to support him at this stage, but an important question would be whether he supported him during his formative years when the obligation was present.... It will indeed however be puzzling if a man (Mr. President) who had adopted kids of others would irresponsibly turn away from his own biological son. We dont know the facts, but questions need to be asked. It is surprising how the story quickly disappeared from the airwaves in such a short space of time, Sounds like some sort of conspiracy.... Infact some blogs which earlier carried the story had taken them down.... more so as soon as the story went viral, the Fayose story suddenly came out to upstage it. Uncharacteristically also the Okupe , Abati and co crew have (conveniently?) kept quiet on the whole issue... Is there something to hide???? Is this boy GEJs son???? What is the story????
