Just before the meeting wound up, six members of Year 2000 - TopicsExpress

Just before the meeting wound up, six members of Year 2000 exit-set who got a wind of the meeting ‘stormed’ the meeting from a colleague’s family function and they were duly recognized. The President reiterated that no class set should have a parallel meeting or event on the third Sunday of the months of the general meeting (Jan, Mar, May, Jul, Sep, Nov) and commended Year 2000 set for showing up at the meeting. In response to Tobe Davies’ question, Engr Irrechukwu (who gave out his daughter’s hand, a medical doctor, in marriage last month in Lekki) said that the right to host a general meeting is not the exclusive preserve of the elders. He said that any OGSSIAN can host the meeting. The only requirement is that the host must be responsibly married and the venue must be in the member’s house. The host must also provide members with bottles of groundnuts and water if that is all the host can afford. Any other form of refreshment, food or entertainment included by our host is discretionary. In another suggestion, an Old Boy proposed that any one, two or three persons (of same set or different sets) who wish to host the general house may opt for a hall or space outside their homes. Therefore, the venue should also be optional. Many members present suggested that since NINEV Conference and Events centre is owned by our host, Arc. Chima Chijioke, we will most likely get the hall for free or for a token just for our general meetings alone while the meals will be borne by anyone hosting us. This was adopted by all. For our social functions or parties, members can only come with their wives or fiancées. Any member who changes partners for different events may be not be allowed. With the window now open for the young and younger generation to host chapter meetings, Year 2000 OGSSIANS took the gauntlet and asked for the opportunity to host the general house in the next meeting come January 2015 which the House accepted. After a lavish dinner, souvenirs were shared by an Old Boy, Sir Moshe Amaechi (whose daughter, a medical doctor, got married in Owerri last month). We also had lots of food-packs to take-away as we went home. Have a pleasant year-end and a wonderful Year 2015. Yours, Udo Nwankwo (Mr.P)
