Just befotre the New Year I had a mail from a man trying to recreate a Cooke Neilsen (Aurora) rotary prototype. I referred him to Richard Negus and sent him pictures of the Cooke Neilsen that i owned from about 1989 to 2003 when I sold it to a collector. Richard and I gave him information and today he writes: Thanks so much for these, they show some other details that I was pondering over, which is now much clearer. Richard also came back to me last night with some other details and great black & whites, so after chasing after information for about 3 years, in the space of 2 days, I have more info than I could have hoped for ! I wrote back: I tell the Norton people to come to the factory sources all the time. But they still tend to ask outsiders who were never part of the team. Actually the same with the other Nortons- say Commandos. What people dont realize is that the people who were involved at production times are, mostly, still there fortunately. We all have our little private collections of records and photographs, not to mention personal recollections.
