Just by curiosity, how many people know that the previous administration re-instituted a limited leaf vacuuming program in the city....a few select streets, and failed to even the playing field by providing the rest of the city with leaf bags? On top of that, those select streets get a letter sent to them advising them of the situation, while the rest of the city gets notifications in the newspaper only. I know that many years ago, the vacuuming program was terminated because it was expensive. Then they stopped providing bags because THAT was expensive. NOW some streets get the priveledge of not needing to go buy bags, and watch the city employees suck up their leaves from the curb. Perhaps the mayor, in her infinite wisdom will remove this inequity and stop the vacuuming immediately, in the effort to save some money. besides the necessary manpower (which must be done whether it is bag pickup or vacuuming), there is an additional operating and maintenance cost associated which could be eliminated since the city is so cash strapped. What say you taxpayers?
