Just came across an event tomorrow night titled Save Uber and Lyft and Ask Blake Ewing Why? on this thing called facebook...thought it would be worth giving a special shout out to both Councilors Blake Ewing and Gt Bynum for being especially awesome... Contrary to popular belief, these two sat down the day after Uber launched in Tulsa with Isaac Rocha, the Uber team and me and advocated for as little regulation as possible. In fact, Uber was the one that offered to assist with writing the proposed ordinance, fully understanding that any city would have some regulations necessary for the program and that, like any business, they cant exist freely. The proposal going through committee right now has both TYPros and Uber at the table, assisting to draft it. Im not sure why people find it fun to get on the haterade bandwagon...but these guys have been top notch supporters of ridesharing for our community. And, as Blake Ewing put it, Tulsa is not in the business of regulating innovation. So, a round of applause and a bravo from this YP who is super proud of her city councilors for finding compromise and reason when most cities are likely to fight ridesharing and any other form of innovative solutions to community challenges.
