Just came back from a bike ride. Nothing new there. But, I had a new experience. I have spooked a lot of animals while riding: cats, dogs, coyotes, pit-bulls, and even a bobcat. This was different. After I had gone about a block, a squirrel ran into the road and between my wheels. That got my mathematical mind working - after all, what else does one do on a bike for over 90 minutes. After a little calculation, I estimated that I was going between 18 and 20 feet per second and that my wheels have about 18 inches of clearance for a nine-inch long squirrel. I can only come to one of two possible conclusions: the squirrel either cannot do math or he was suicidal. Any thoughts?
