Just emailed this to Megabus Dear Sir/Madam I booked 4 seats on the 18.20 Megabus from Leeds to Birmingham last Friday night. (Order AA3XJVY). We arrived at Leeds Bus Station in plenty of time, but the bus did not arrive to pick us up until around 8pm and did not arrive in Birmingham until around half past midnight. On the return journey the next morning (08.55 from Birmingham) we were put off the bus in Manchester while the driver took the bus to the depot to get the steering column adjusted. This resulted in the bus arriving in Leeds close to an hour late. In addition, one of our party thinks he left his house and car keys on the coach. I rang your number 01413329644 on Saturday afternoon and spoke to someone who suggested I ring back the next day, which I did and spoke to someone who took my details and said she would ring me back. She didnt. I rang back just before 5pm today and spoke to someone who eventually put me through to Lost Property at which point I was told that you have no way of knowing whether anything was left on the bus and probably wouldnt for a couple of days and that I would only be contacted if something was found. As far as the delays are concerned Id be interested to know how you intend to compensate me. As for the lost property issue I am truly puzzled as to why any company would have such a poor system for dealing with queries of this nature. I asked each of the 3 people I spoke to whether they could just ring the driver and ask him if he had found anything and was told that it was not possible. Why wasnt it possible? Surely you have your drivers phone numbers while they are on duty in case you need to talk to them? Why couldnt someone simply make a quick call on my behalf? In the meantime my friend has spent over £300 getting his house and car keys replaced. Its quite possible that the keys were not left on the coach, but you have made no effort at all to find out. One might even think that you could not care less. In conclusion: This is the first time I have used Megabus and, based on my experience, it will be the last. Ian Russell
