Just felt the need to vent this here, since it would have bothered me had I just kept it to myself: My issue with American politics in the modern age has a very elephant in the room vibe to it. And while I prefer to simply label my views as American, Im going to just talk about things from a neutral standpoint that any party can relate to. It has become the norm to be inherently distrustful of ANYTHING the opposing party says or does, oftentimes emphasized by the underlying apocalypse that will occur if you dont stand against them with every bit of your being as an democratic American. This breeding of hate and discontent between both sides is oftentimes to the tune of dehumanization, violence and what could very well be racism (if you pulled back far enough and simply saw the U.S. as a collection of Red and Blue states). So its no wonder that when the minority feels oppressed enough by the greed and ill doings of the majority, very bad things end up happening for the sake of perceived equality. Thats exactly how America came to be, and what we all should desire as a nation of immigrant minorities looking for a fresh start. Progress benefits us all, and it would do our leaders (political and financial) well to have a reminder that the fuel required for our advancement as a civilization is just as much a finite resource as the monetary and geological interests they have at the moment. It should not be squandered as wastefully as it has.
