Just finished listening to Survivors - Series One released by Big Finish Productions. Popular Doctor Who writer Terry Nation was responsible for the creation of this brilliant series back during the late 1970s and the original show ran for three series/seasons; before it had a two season/series reboot back in 2008. Big Finish rightfully decided not to attempt a third reboot of Terry Nations beloved series, instead harkening back to the original 1970s series to tell parallel stories that while incorporating some of the original cast members, takes the series in new directions. The concept behind Survivors is simple. A gobal plague has wiped out about 90% of humanity, leaving the people who survived to pick up the pieces and attempt to rebuild their lives and civilization. [A chilling plot, especially with ebola running amok and the United States refusing to take common sense quarantine procedures.] The four interconnecting episodes are: Revelation, Exodus, Judges, and the chilling Esther. Without giving away too many spoilers, the descent of who you thought was going to be one of the series heroes into madness is chilling and it sets off a chain of repercussions throughout the series and sets the stage for the forthcoming Series Two that Big Finish will be releasing next year - June 2015.
