Just finished watching Cowboy Bebop on BluRay... I remember - TopicsExpress

Just finished watching Cowboy Bebop on BluRay... I remember James Poulette introducing it to me back when he lived in Fitchburg, we watched every episode as they came out, I went to Record Town with him when each new VHS came out, and wed watch it. I remember not loving it... I liked it, I thought it was amusing. Not worth buying. James hooked me up with a DVD copy a few years later, I enjoyed it, it was better than my teenage mind could really indulge. it was fun looking for each episodes movie dedication scenes... (episode 5 had a dedication to the crow, Episode 2 to Bruce lees final movie... etc) In the end I think a lot of what held me back from enjoying this series were the smokers.. lol... Ive had an aversion to people who smoked a lot since my teens, and the fact that most of the characters smoked a little too much turned me off initially... I found the same problem with Boondock Saints my first time watching that... It really was a tremendously well-made show... it was dark, it was funny, the characters believable, and yet endearing. A cast of lone wolves who pulled together becasue they had nowhere else to go, each with pasts they were trying to escape from... Each character for as fantastic as they may seem in action sequences, was again, believable in dramatic ones, enough so that it isnt hard to see some of oneself reflected in each scene... I even found myself a little teary-eyed towards the end of the series... so good. It is animated. And yet I still take it seriously as one of the best tv shows to have ever been made. J.J. Abrams... please watch this, and then die of shame and embarrassment with a little fire and horror at the projects you have attached your name to (I even enjoyed some of JJAs stuff like the Star trek movies and the first coupleseasons of Fringe, but the story telling, the drama, the things that matter werent even in the same league...) And lastly the music. The music was rich beyond belief. As you can tell just by the name Cowboy Bebop, there would have to be strong element of action and music... It did not fail. the muic ranged from the blues, to pop, to rock and metal, and even a new favorite of mine.. elm. which shouldnt even be that good, but I just added the song to my cars MP3 mix two days ago. In the end, Im sorry to April Lynne Robichaud, I know shes not an anime fan, but I may strap her to a couch some day soon and make her marathon-watch this show. enjoy a clean opening for the show: https://youtube/watch?v=Aw3fN3OPk3A
