Just finished watching Transformers 4 Age of Extinction with the family. It was a rather long movie although I think it would have been better if it was just named Oversized Japanese Robot Movie with large explosions. The CGI work in this film was rather tedious, lacking the smooth transitional blending that was found in the other films. The CGI elements popped against the green screen backgrounds and became a burden to the rest of the film elements. The concept work was not as pointed as first three and really seemed to lack the usual inspired design elements and visual complexity that left Long Shot looking too much like Henry Belefonte. The Dinobots made the promised on screen cameo for about ten minutes with a lot of explosions and scenery destruction. The kids enjoyed Transformers 4 Age of Extinction quite a lot.. but I however, after being bathed in the glory of Transformers G1 and its whole marketing machine, found it to be ratchety and again uninspired. If Hollywood is going to make a movie out of any of the IPs we grew up on they need to take more consideration to the fan base and remember that no one really wants to watch your grand reimagination of what you perceive our childhood about. Stop pillaging our generations youthful memories and start paying homage to the cannon set before you.. Give us what we want, a genuine G1 inspired movie with all the bots in the correct form being true to their set personalities. Its not too much to ask, is it?
