Date: Tuesday, 18 March 2014 Time: 12:00 until 13:30 Where: Hunter Centre G30 From: https://facebook/events/433826180086852/?ref=22&source=1 An amazing chance to hear from two National Directors from World Vision New Zealand about their experiences in Mali and the Solomon Islands- two causes that 100Percent enables our volunteers to support. These speakers have real life experience of fighting poverty IN THE FIELD. Hear them report back on the difference funds raised by 100Percent have made to the lives of the people they help. If you are interested in development, poverty, aid, social enterprise or just generally changing the world this event is for you! 1st Speaker: Chance Briggs - Mali The ongoing food and nutrition crisis coupled with the recent conflict in Mali has resulted in over 260,000 people being displaced and left homeless within Mali. These families are struggling to survive and often have no more than the clothes on their back, and what they can carry. Their most important needs are access to food, shelter and water. The is also a big need for healthcare facilities and schooling for affected children. 2nd Speaker: Andrew Catford- Solomon Islands Word Vision has been present in the Solomon Islands for more than 30 years working across five provinces on disaster risk reduction, health, education, water and sanitation and gender programmes. Come along and be educated and inspired by people who have experience in the field- creating change and helping to alleviate social injustice.
