Just got back from UVA appointment with David with the endocrinologist and Diabetic Educator who uses his printouts from the insulin pump to determine if adjustments need to be made..cautioned about being too aggressive in lowering A1C because of dangers of life threatening lows. So Very Hard as Type I Diabetes is an autoimmune condition in which the immune system attacks ones own body like in trying to kill off bad viruses, etc, and mistakenly kills off all the beta cells that produce insulin so with Type I Diabetes ones body produces zero insulin whereas with Type II, the body still produces some insulin, just doesnt produce enough or cannot effectively utilize the insulin that is produced. Has had Type I Diabetes for 18 years and only lived barely 13 years without Diabetes. A Very Very HARD thing to deal with physically, emotionally, financially, especially for David but also for those who Dearly Love Him, as I do with a Mothers Heart...Tomorrow to Duke Eye Hospital to evaluate the Complications with blood leakage on the retina and also at UVA in helping to fine tune the bolus and doses of insulin to reduce damage already done for the Kidneys and to hope for Improvement...so many autoimmune diseases in my fathers family, and have lost sisters and brothers, nephews, to autoimmune health conditions, and is still continuing through the generations just recently with my second cousin being diagnosed with MS...Praying that God will Bless my Precious Son and all of my families and keep them in His Loving Care....
