Just got back from the vet. We made the appointment to have Muffet put down tonight, but I asked the vet to try to give her fluids. Just to see. He gave her IV and said if that doesnt work then she is not dehydrated, her kidneys are shutting down due to her thyroid. He is the kindest vet I have ever met and God knows I have spent most of my life in vets or Als doctors. I tried to explain to my husband that I couldnt live with myself if we didnt at least see if this works. The vet echoed my thoughts to a T. He said we feel like we are playing God putting our pet down, but we have to do the best we can, and what we think is right. Having the vet echo what I had told my husband on the ride down there helped. If it is her time to go, then so be it, but I just want to exhaust all possibilities. She is not in pain, she is laying there purring, Abby and I take turns laying on the floor next to her while I am on the computer and Abby is reading to her, even though Abby knows Muffet has been deaf for years, Abby thinks she can feel the vibration of her voice while she is reading with her hand on her. She said her music teacher said sound is energy and energy travels. I will see what happens tomorrow. I feel sick, I feel sad, but at least I will know tomorrow if she doesnt perk up, I need to do what I have to do. Some people would just see her and see an old cat. I look at her and it is like a movie reel of the last 16 years, her torturing my Rottweiler, the time we came home when she was about 4 and almost dead because she had a plastic grocery store bag wrapped around her neck. All the times I threatened to throw her out because she was such a huge bully to the who family. I think of the time I screamed at her because she attacked one of the other cats and she ran under the bed and hid, but her tail was sticking out. Most of all I just think how much I love her because she is part of my family. We will see what tomorrow brings.
