Just got back to Normandy from FantasyCon 2014! Had an awesome weekend of books, chats, panels, seminars, booze, boogie, and generalised sleeplessness, and came away thoroughly inspired, stimulated, and recharged. Great to meet up with friends old and new - highlights included the Solaris Books karaoke hosted by Jonathan Oliver, David Thomas Moore, and Lydia Gittins and belting out some foghorn barbarian Yawps, hanging out with Jaine Fenn lots and lots and having some excellent chats throughout the weekend and not a little boogying at the FantasyCon disco ;-), meeting Clifford Beal, Fran Terminiello, Gillian Polack, and Jacey Bedford, and finally getting to meet lots of the BFS committee folks in person at last! Attended a great panel on weapon fighting from Adrian Tchaikovsky, Fran Terminiello, Clifford Beal, Juliet E McKenna, and David Moore, which inspired me finally to find a local medieval martial arts school here in NW France. Thanks to everyone for a fab and friendly time - by far my booziest convention ever! - and to Lee Harris and the team for organising a great FantasyCon. :)
