Just got done watching the last HBO special George Carlin did - TopicsExpress

Just got done watching the last HBO special George Carlin did before passing away. One of the true greats. I miss him greatly. The show is called Its Bad for Ya and is available right now on Netflix. One thing he said really struck me. He said something along the lines of If you think you have rights, look up Japanese American 1942. So I did, and found executive order 9066. This is proof that our American bill of rights is about as useful as toilet paper. This got me thinking about gun rights. Why didnt the Japanese Americans use the guns they were allowed to have before order 9066? Did they just not own any? And if so, would things have worked out differently if the US military tried moving Japanese Americans who were armed to the teeth? These are some very thought provoking questions I have just raised to myself just before bed. Im all for stopping these crazy gunmen shootings in schools and movies and such, but at what point do gun laws become moot. One can kill just as many kids by plowing a SUV through a sidewalk filled with them, couldnt they? Damn it. Now I have insomnia. Thanks George Carlin. Still miss ya though.
