Just got home form the working at the Red Sox Game....the World Series 2013 Champions......Ive been working there for 20 seasons, and enjoyed thoroughly the 2004 and 2007 championships. But I am even more cranked up about and am proud to be part of this championship in 2013. Sure, the players play the game. But the day-of-game staff, ticket-takers, ushers, security, and many others play a significant role in making the fans experience at Fenway Park a good one. I must say that all during the year, I could sense the enthusiasm building up from the first few games through mid-season and then into the playoffs. Thousands of people came through my gate(s), many of them season ticket holders and many others who were attending Americas Most Beloved Ballpark for the first time. No matter who they were, where they came from, or what their level of interest in baseball might have been, it was my job to greet them with a smile and a Welcome To Fenway. However, that was the easy part. The hard part was at times standing in the cold, other times in the heat, and a few times in the rain, to admit people to the park who came to enjoy what turned out to be one of the most exciting seasons in recent memory. In the end, it was all worth it. Im now looking forward to the parade and even more so to our annual end-of-season party for the employees. Itll be awesome to relive the happy feeling again with my co-workers.
