Just got settled into a hospital room. After seeing my doctor in - TopicsExpress

Just got settled into a hospital room. After seeing my doctor in clinic today, he decided it would be most efficient to keep me as an inpatient to accomplish a few tasks over the next couple days. One of the hardest parts of managing congestive heart failure is evaluating the fluid status. The doctor feels that I have too much fluid on my body, which is a result of my heart not functioning well. They are very impressed with my compliance to medication, diet, and fluid restrictions. The doctors here at Duke are hopeful to get me a heart within 9 months to one year. It is their hope, and mine too, that the assistive device surgery may be avoided altogether. As the week unfolds, we will know more. For now, it is just time to go through a process of diuresis (eliminating fluid from the body) by means of taking an IV diuretic. The less fluid on my body, the easier my heart will be able to work. We also hope to meet the transplant team this week to get the ball rolling. I thank the Lord for sending us here and for the excellent doctors doctors and nurses Ive already encountered. HE has a plan, my friends. Pray for me...but dont be sad for me. Declare the good works of the Lord. Speak positivity over my situation. No, its not easy, nor does it always make sense, but God is working this is my favor and the whole wide world will soon see! \0/
