Just had a phone with my friends from Gaza and this is the situation South east of Khan Younis in Khuzaa and Abasan Al Sair and Abasan Al Kabira. There are 12,000 people displaced from this area now in Khan Younis, some managed to get shelter in an UNWRA school but most are on the streets with no cover. There are over 300 people dead or unaccounted for, most fear the worst. A cousin of my friend told him that she was one of the last to leave Khuzaa as Israeli troops were entering the village on foot she was stepping bodies in the street, what was worse was that she knew many of these people she was stepping on. She was terrified to turn back in fear of being shot by the invading soldiers. This is the fifth day since that invasion and there are still corpses on the street. Yesterday during the so called ceasefire many families were told that they could return for a limited time to collect the remains of the relatives and personal belongings. But as they attempted to move back the soldiers on the ground refused to allow them enter. Another cousin of my friend is an ambulance paramedic who attempted to enter the area in a Red Crescent ambulance but was fired on by the soldiers. The people on the streets of Khan Younis today have very little food and water. The situation is dire.
