Just had a very interesting phone conversation with Justin*, from a contact centre that has been pestering me with phone calls for ages, despite me requesting time and time again to take my bloody number off their list. Anyway, a while ago, I saved their number in my phone so I would know it was them and so I know to just reject the call. Only this time, when they rang, I couldnt resist. This is the abridged version of the phone-call... *phone rings* I look at phone, see who it is, and with a sigh, I answer... Me : ...Yes? J : Hello, am I speaking to a Mr.Daniel Doyle, please? Me : Yes. This is he. J : Hello there, Mr.Doyle. My names Justin, and Im phoning on behalf of RTC Claims*. Its just a quick call to you today to ask you about the road traffic accident our records indicate you might have been in within the last three years? Me : No. I havent had an accident, thank you. J : Are you sure? Me : Yeah. Quite sure. I think I would have remembered something like that happening. *splash* J : Because if youve had an accident, Mr.Doyle, you may be entitled to some form of compensation, which we would be able handle for you and begin processing your claim for you over the phone. Me : For a fee, of course? J : Well...Yeah, but you would keep the majority of any award made to you, Mr.Doyle. Me : Lets see now...Have I had an accident?... Let me think... *splash* Me : Nope. Oh, hang on a second... *splash* J : Are you OK there, Mr.Doyle? Me : Yeah. Im just having a shit. J (incredulous) : You what?? Me : Im having a shit. Thats the thing when you cold-call a mobile, mate. You never know where the other person is when they answer. J : ...... *splash* J : ...Look, do you want me to give you a call back when its more convenient? Me : No, not really. Goodbye. *splash* * = Names have been changed to protect the innocent...
