Just had the opportunity to watch the Fan Network feed from finals. Of course I first had to fast forward to our performance (come on, admit it...you would too!). As our performance played out I found something very interesting happening. As I watched and listened I was not struck by any of the imperfections, or the fantastic moments. I wasnt watching for the crowd reaction, or lack of reaction. I wasnt being the typically over analytical observer that I usually am when watching our runs. This surprised me because instead of that...all I saw were faces. The faces of my CV family all flooding back to my thoughts. The experiences we shared throughout the season. What we endured...what we persevered through, what we accomplished together. While I cant speak for anyone else, I would bet that many, many others from other corps experienced much the same reaction. Suddenly, placement, scores, judges, sheets...none of that mattered anymore. It was just faces...familiar, loving, committed faces that I will cherish forever. Yeah, Cabs dropped two placements from prelims. Yeah, we dropped a place from prelims. Yeah, others may have felt disappointment at retreat...or not. In the grand scheme of things, how much does that matter to all of us? How much should it matter to those in the stands? Dont have the answers for everyone...all I see are faces. See you all next year. Dan Detweiler Very proud drum major for Atlanta CV.
