Just had to share Ricardos photo. He was drinking a Madeira wine from 1795. Thats 219-year-old!! When this wine was made: Napoleon was a year younger than me now, Mozart had died just 4 years earlier and France adopted the metric system. It would take another 70 years for slavery to end in the US and almost 100 years to the invention of the modern automobile. To see, smell, taste, digest and feel the effects of something this old (and actually enjoy it) is the closest thing we have to time travel. Its like going down on Mona Lisa. I mean these are GREAT wines. Nectar of the Gods, truly. And that is why Im going to Madeira at least twice this year. I want to learn more about these fascinating wines and drink some seriously good stuff. #epic
