Just happened here in Berlin, Germany... The gigantic and colourful Uganda exhibition stall has just hosted the launch of the East Africa single tourist visa at the ITB Berlin tourism festival before a packed international audience. The single visa costing $100 that allows foreign visitors to access the three states of Uganda, Kenya and Rwanda is meant to woo high end global tourists thus spurring increased revenues for the countries. It will bring a more cost effective approach in terms of money, time and experience. Stephen Asiimwe, the chief executive officer of Uganda Tourism Board described the occasion as a great marriage that will open opportunities. Tanzania and Burundi, the other two states within the community are yet to join the triparttie initiatives that also include joint infrastructure projects- And this is the challenge of integration...a bit fragmented but the TZ bpys here cant wait to join.
