Just heard a radio DJ claim that Macklemores apology to Kendrick Lamar (which was not an apology at all, but him stating his opinion), was about white guilt and said that Macklemore must know something he doesnt. This is due to Macklemore claiming his success has to do with his race and mainstream success, rather than actually having the best album of the year. So, we finally have a white artist acknowledge the system of privilege that exists in our culture, admit that he didnt have the best album of the year, and mainstream media tries to act like he doesnt know what he is talking about. The good news is, these views are now finally reaching a mainstream audience through pop culture. Rage and joy at the same time.
