Just heard the most unbelievably stupid thing on the news. Apparently 1/5 (20%) of the NHS maternity budget is spent on insurance against malpractice. WHAT? That is just insane. I propose... sign a waiver, or deliver your baby yourself! OK, things will always go wrong, but by and large I have found our health service to be outstanding (other than hitting appointment times) - how can spending 20% of the budget to cover law suits be justified in any way? SHOCKED :/
