Just in case readers of this item dont understand what the Likud Charter is, its the 1999 platform, never repudiated, of Benjamin Netanyahus political partywhich declares that Israel will never relinquish control of any territory west of the Jordan River. In other words, the Likud party will never support an independent state for the Palestinians. When the British Kingdom rejected the prospect of an independent state in British controlled North America, our forebears rebelled with violence and created the United States of America. I am not suggesting support for Hamas, which calls not only for Arab control of all of what had been the British mandate of Palestine but for the murder of every Jew. Nor do I support the police state that Hamas runs in Gaza. However, so long as Israel sabotages every prospect for an independent Arab state and renders the moderate portion of the Palestinian political leadership impotent, fanatics like Hamas will not only continue the slaughter and intimidate those who would otherwise dissent, but it will also gain more and more supporters from amidst the Palestinian Arab population.
