Just in case we forget that these things still happen, or just case we dont see them or notice them, this is the most articulate explanation Ive seen about the black experience. I submit that we dont see this here because statistically, blacks make up one half of one percent of our population in Medford (this, according to US Census data). But....that makes me think....wouldnt that make it HARDER here? Just because I am not physically present to see this, just because I havent experienced it, should I assume it doesnt happen? And my question, as always is this, what can concerned individuals in the white community DO to heal this disparity, once we become aware of it?
