Just landed in Washington, DC, excited about tonights Maxwell - TopicsExpress

Just landed in Washington, DC, excited about tonights Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs 90th anniversary event, where I have two jobs. In April this year at a Women Presidents Organization conference, I listened to Lauren Bush Lauren describe FEED Projects, which she founded in 2007. Today, she is 32 years old and FEED has distributed 85.3 million meals. I nominated her for Maxwells first Moynihan Spirit of Public Service Award and she WON. Lauren created the FEED 1 Bag, a reversible burlap and organic cotton bag reminiscent of the bags of food distributed by the World Food Programme [WFP], to help raise funds and awareness around these school feeding operations...stamped with FEED the children of the world and the number 1 to signify that each bag provides enough meals to feed one child in school for one year. Over my shoulder tonight will be one of these bags, loaned to me by Catherine Bertini, Cortland, NY native, 2003 WFP World Food Prize Laureate and Maxwell professor. My two jobs this evening: 1) Deliver to Lauren a note inside the bag from Catherine, who sadly cannot attend the event. 2) Deliver greetings from Sandy Williams Wrench in Syracuse, whose children and Lauren went to the same high school in Houston. Yes, small universe. I love it when planets align.
