Just last Wednesday on African Cocktail (Afrikka Radio), in a special edition focus on the North West region of Cameroon, I was recalling that Kumbo Strikers became the first club, west of the Mungo to grab the Cup of Cameroon in 2000. News of the qualification of Young Sports Academy (YOSA) of Bamenda for the final of the tournament is just an added joy. Congrats to YOSA and management. Mt Cameroon FC of Buea lift the coveted trophy in 2003 to become the second club in English-speaking Cameroon to ferry it across the Mungo. Now, here is the problem - is the Mankon Municipal stadium all the town of Bamenda deserves? Is the Molyko municipal stadium all the fast-growing Buea deserves? Does it suffice to hit the streets of Cameroon, celebrating the victory of the Lions over their Tunisian counterparts or rejoice over a FIFA ruling in favour of Cameroon when the country (seven-times World Cup participants) cannot have befitting football stadiums? This has been a long-time cry, but.....Im afraid the solution is not next door. But why? Anyway, good luck YOSA as you brace to meet the Kpa-kums at the national challenge cup final!
