Just learned the sad news of the passing of Gene Bennett. Gene was one of the first marching instructors I encountered during my early years of drum corps. I had Gene spend time with me to teach me some of the intricacies of marching band drill design. I often judged bands he was working with, most notably Huntington HS and Copiague HS. I remember back in the mid 80s, I was writing drill for Hampton Bays HS and Gene helped me resolve some transition problems I was having being a novice drill designer. I fondly remember the tremendous drills he wrote for the Long Island Sunrisers back in the day and will deeply miss his kind and jovial temperament. I will forward funeral details once I have them. RIP Uncle Gene.
