Just like Jonah, there are many believers that have disobeyed God or rebelled against his will. And just like Jonah, those same believers have failed to repent of their wicked deeds. Oh sure, they pay their vow. Meaning they honour their duty and commitment to God, while sulking and having a pity party and not enjoying the fruits of their labour. They go about life thinking nothing is wrong with them, all the while carrying a chip (stumblingblock) on their shoulder. It is important when God reveals thy sin that thou repentest then, lest ye be like Jonah and Israel wandering and watching on the outskirts of victory. Israel and Jonah knew about Salvation. They knew about the Holiness, Mercy, and Love of God. They just couldnt grasp the Forgiveness of God. We are all sinners deserving of judgment in need of a Saviour. Remember we are only one beggar showing other beggars where the Bread of Life is! Lord help me to never harbor my sin and develop an indignant, unforgiving attitude toward anyone. Jonah 2:9 But I will sacrifice unto thee with the voice of thanksgiving; I will pay that that I have vowed. Salvation is of the LORD.
