Just like it is impossible to face two different directions at the same time, it is equally impossible to cling to sin and God at the same time. To hold tightly to one, means you dont have a firm grip on the other. God and sin dont go hand in hand. When we repent of our sins, we need make a conscious effort to turn away from sin and turn towards God. We need to choose one or the other. Thats why the Apostle Peter said, Each of you must repent of your sins and turn to God, and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. Then you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. This promise is to you, and to your children, and even to the Gentiles—all who have been called by the Lord our God.” Acts 2:38-39 NLT
