Just listened to Rabbi Dr. Jonathan Sacks (Slitha) while doing - TopicsExpress

Just listened to Rabbi Dr. Jonathan Sacks (Slitha) while doing dishes (yes guys, I do dishes) and to my surprise his lecture included a talk on the Fine Tuning argument for the existence of God. Why is this surprising? Because a perusal of Jewish philosophers of the last 100 years existentialist ideas are dominant, even though analytic philosophy and natural theology has made a comeback in academia, among frum academics it has been painfully quit around these disciplines. As the Philosopher Swinburne wrote many years ago, about the great tragedy of fluffy existentialism dominant in theology: If argument has a place in theology, large scale theology needs clear and rigorous argument. Perhaps it is time to put our Bubers, Rosenzweig, Heschel and even our Soloveitchics on a small fire and stoke high the flames of rigorous analytic philosophy like the Chachamim of the past did in their days!
