Just made: Old fashion homemade tea cakes. Bearing memories of bare feet, sisters and a dusty road on sweltering hot southern summer afternoons. Off we would run with a plate to our Dad. The dish towel covered tea cakes and a wrapped jar of hot coffee provided him a brief rest and respite from hay bailing or cattle dipping. From beneath the brim of a tan summer cowboy hat was the face of a man whose gaze had seen a hard life and whose hands could bend a ten-penny nail. Hands that could pop a belt off in 3/10ths of a second and the same hands which would give you the shirt off his back. Still miss and love you forty-two years later. Make room in heaven for us Daddy. Time will soon end and eternity awaits.
