Just met the mayor of Palmer, DeLena Johnson. Shes running for Alaska state senate as a conservative republican. Today she was going door to door, discussing her campaign and where she stands on the issues. She stopped by my house and shop. It turns out were friends here on Facebook. Shed heard of me, Id heard of her - but then its a small town. Very enjoyable conversation with Delena and her husband and well worth the time. Even though were of different political stripes, there was plenty of common ground. Shes done a damned good job as mayor here in Palmer and after talking to her I suspect that if elected shell do a very good job in Juneau as well. It was a pleasure to meet her in person.
