Just read an article in The Daily Star (what a stellar example of journalism that is :P ) about a Common Council meeting in Oneonta where people in a nutshell complained about the college students and their behavior. And I find myself thinking...yes there are a few kids that have behavior issues...and yes they probably could keep it down a little, and clean up after themselves better...but if Oneonta thinks that the problems in THIS city are the result of the college students they are NOT reading the Police Blotter or paying attention. The students bring revenue, life, energy (yes they bring GOOD energy!!), ideas, involvement in local charities, and support for many of the jobs that many of us have....If you want THEM to be good neighbors Oneonta...maybe YOU should try being a good neighbor...when was the last time the City did something to encourage an event between the students and their neighbors? Block parties and BBQs in the different wards where neighbors get to know each other and instead of people complaining, work for a solution... Like I said...If you want a good neighbor..BE a good neighbor....just a thought....
