Just read of the death of Mr. Bruce Schuessler. He was one of the influences in my 17 years of teaching Mathematics to the At Risk students in the various high schools of Indiana and Kentucky. I was asked one time by a class why those 4 or 5 evaluations observed in the classroom by administrators did not seem to bother me. I relayed a story about Mr. Schuessler being observed by Mr. Pence in one of my Chemistry classes. We were at the lab tables combing some water and acid solution as part of a bigger exercise. As I was ready to mix the two, my lab partner who was consider a 12 on the 10 scale as a female fox said it is hot in here: and raised up and hiked her skirt from about 3 inches below the knees and as she sat down it was about 6inches above the knees. It was a distraction for me and several other tables around me. I picked up the wrong tube and started to pour into the other---you mix the water and acid in the wrong order and you get an unwanted reaction. Mr. Schuessler was so cool in his reaction and just kept on instructing while correcting my error. RIP.
