Just realized it is close to the anniversary of a very significant event in my work life. 2 years ago, the company I was with downsized and I lost my job. As tough as it was, it was God closing the door for me because I wasnt being obedient to Him and closing the door myself. I was the most miserable person I had ever been in any job for a year and a half. I witnessed management engage in very immoral behaviors and was treated like crap because I didnt participate in such activities. God closed the door that day. When it happened, I felt a huge sense of relief, despite the financial uncertainty that was about to hit us. I was unemployed for almost a year. I took that time to get my Real Estate license, which is something I always wanted to do. I also had some much needed time to recover mentally. I didnt realize how truly exhausted I was from the misery of being in that job for that time. As I reflect back, I realize that I am stronger now, and will never ever ever allow myself to remain in a job like that. The biggest lesson learned from that experience was how God always provides. Romans business grew that year, and continues to do so, and not once did we have to miss bills or borrow money. God reminded us that He gives, He takes away, and He provides. It is only through Him. And it re-focused us on frivolous spending and the importance of saving! It also strengthened our marriage and increased my respect for Roman for all he does for our family. So, even when times look treacherous, rely on God to carry you through. He has never failed me!
