Just received this email: Please see this exciting note below from member groups Jewish Voice for Peace and American Muslims for Palestine and take action! -US Campaign to End the Israeli Occupation At this very moment, interfaith delegations organized by the Los Angeles chapters of Jewish Voice for Peace & American Muslims for Palestine are inside the offices of Senators Boxer and Feinstein. We have begun a sit-in of both offices simultaneously and we are hearing words of encouragement from rabbis, pastors, and imams from all over California. We need your help too. We want to meet with our Senators to express dismay with their near unconditional support to Israel’s ongoing occupation and recent invasion of Gaza, resulting in close to two thousand deaths, 80% of whom were civilians. Here is a copy of the letter we are delivering to both Senators (pdf of letter to Senator Boxer and Feinstein). Please call the offices Senator Boxer and Senator Feinstein right now and express your disappointment for their support of Senate Resolution 498 and their support for sending further arms to Israel. Demand that the Senators support a full, independent investigation into Operation Protective Edge. Sen. Boxer’s Office: (213) 894-5000 Sen. Feinstein’s Office: (310) 914-7300 US Senate Resolution 498 was approved unanimously on July 17, supporting Israel’s attack on Gaza and making no mention of Palestinian deaths and the disproportionate use of force against civilians. The resolution failed to acknowledge the underlying conditions of occupation and blockade.
