Just returned from Monrovia, Liberia where Savannah State University is in the process of establishing exchange and study abroad programs. In Fall 2014, Savannah State University will host the Model African Union conference in Monrovia. We had productive meetings with the following officials: the Vice President of Liberia, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Deputy Foreign Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Minister of Commerce, the Ambassador of the USA in Liberia, the President of the University of Liberia, Deans, faculty, and students at the University of Liberia. We had lunch in the residence of the Ambassador of the USA in Liberia and had dinner in the residence of the Vice President of Liberia. For your information, the Ambassador of the USA in Liberia is from Savannah, GA. and is a fan of Savannah State University. Her daughter will be applying for admission to SSU. In short, the trip to Liberia was very successful. SSU students, another door is open for more international experiences.
