Just saw Exodus: gods and kings with some people. I liked it. Keep in mind: Moses was instructed in all the wisdom of the Egyptians, and he was mighty in his words and deeds (Acts 7:22). Moses might in words and deeds was certainly conveyed well in the movie, along with a thoroughly Egyptian wisdom. Moses would have been taught by overseers of the Egyptian harim, which included lots of education from retired generals, learning military tactics. The movie portrays Moses as a military man quit well. His instinct is to always fight. In terms of the media grievance of Caucasian actors portraying Egyptians: because Egypt ruled the world heres a sample of what you would find in the Egyptian court: Canaanites, Syrians, Asians, and even Babylonians. Moses would have studied their languages along with Babylonian cuniform for basic diplomatic purposes. So if you find a good actor who can speak the language of ancient Babylonian cuneiform (which no one on earth can, let alone a modern Egyptian) then you might have a grievance, otherwise not much argument there. Just find a good actor. In terms of the aggressive boy who portrayed Gods messenger: he was NOT aggressive enough: At a lodging place on the way the Lord met him and sought to kill him (Exodus 4:24). Look it up. In terms of the scene where Moses is writing the ten commandments instead of God using lightning: the Bible actually says And Moses wrote all the words of the Lord (Ex 24:4). The Charlton Heston version got it Biblically wrong it seems.
